The company, which was established in 1977 as Van-Et, has been active under the name of Metro Holding since August 2010. The holding structure including eleven affiliations among which is Metro Turizm, MEPET, Metro Elektrik, Metro Maden is quoted on the Istanbul Stock Exchange as public company.
